We nominate for awards, including Best of The Net. All submissions are considered for publication online and in our print mag.

Alternatively, we also have a New Submission Form for 100 Word Stories. With this in mind, submit only one story per month via the form. However, we encourage you to participate weekly on our blog in addition to one monthly submission.

On the first Wednesday of each month, we publish 2 selected 100 Word Stories (1 from submissions and 1 entry from the 100 Word Wednesday weekly prompts on the blog.)

Read other entries and comment on others. Lastly, this is a positive forum for feedback!

  1. By Candlelight
A flag dangles from her ceiling beams, but it has been a lifetime since I have wanted a woman: bisexuality can lead to men for twenty years if you let it. She has set candles along her countertop; by their light I watch the play of arm muscle under her shirt. What would this love be like, now that I am older? I remember all this differently, my skin smooth without surgery scars. But I extend my fingers towards her, reaching for the delicate curve of her collarbone. I know what life is like now, the briefest of candle flames.

  2. Burn Bright

Some say Rory and Mable were a strange pair, a couple of frayed wicks searching for a match. I say they burned brightly, lit up the whole sky with music and laughter that made you smile, even on the most bone cold days of the year. Old man McGrady says they were hooligans, up to devilish trickery, but I know for a fact that his Mrs. had a soft spot for them, secretly baked them cookies. They were taken too soon, that much everyone can agree on. But taken where? That may be a question only the lake can answer.
