  1. Broken Eggs

I am not sure if have any of them of left and even if I did, they would be broken. You see, my body has started to wind down, or perimenopause. My ovaries are no longer producing eggs, in fact I haven’t bled since August. But you see this perimenopause is a sinuous, tortuous path, I might get another period again, next month or for years still to come. Or I might not. I can’t sleep. Hot flushes. And my brain is so often filled with fog that sometimes I think I am losing it. How I long for eggs.

    1. Every word of this resonates. I believe more needs to be written about menopause and how much it affects women’s daily lives, sometimes every minute of the day. Thank you for writing this.

  2. Strange Things

There were a lot of strange things about Rory’s disappearance. You may be wondering why I don’t call it his death, but like I told you, there was no body. His car was wrapped around that old oak tree, the one that seems to rise right out of the centre of the lake like a Siren. No idea how it got there. His shiny green ford hugged that craggy old tree as if it were made of tinfoil, but the windows were intact, and the interior undisturbed. It was like an egg that had been emptied out but never cracked.
