Three Line Thursday
What can you say, convey, or express in only three lines? Can you paint a visual picture with only words? Tell an entire story that begs to be read?
#TLT Use the hashtags and share on social! #comelaydownink
Use your imagination. Poetry, Haiku, Senryū, Free Verse, Prose, and Flash are all welcome. (Please do not graphically use excessive profanity or overtly disturbing mental images. Let’s use common sense.)
One word per line—fine. Ten words per line (max) works too. It counts as long as it fits in the comment box in three-line format. Simple, right?
We also nominate for awards, including Best of The Net. All submissions are considered for publication in our print mag. For more weekly inspiration, check out 100 Word Wednesday, too.
Read other entries and comment on others. Most importantly, this is a positive forum for feedback!

Hehe thanks 🙂
the breaking of ground
not choking on mulch
us kissing the air of spring

Flower, you kept sweet,
chilled secrets — even from me,
even from your seeds.
Hocus-pocus!
Here come the crocus,
spring’s first purple bonus.
I love the playfulness and whimsy of this!
Those first two lines are wonderful, Michelle! Next time I’m feeling miserable, I’ll just recite them to myself on a loop until I’m thoroughly cheered up!
the sullen branch, soured by ancient lichen,
erupts incomprehensibly
into whimsical joy
@ewanandsmith
Feeling the joy in this, Ewan! It’s like Spring arrived in my room!
Cheers, Susan!
Spring is a moment in yellow,
a snapshot of new light
bathing the waking soil.

What a beautiful image, Susan – the light filtering into the cold darkness of the soil.
Despair not, tis the end of gloom
as Winter leaves and makes room
for Spring is brandishing its broom.
Huzzah! Huzzah! Time to spring clean! I love the sense of hope in this.
I love Spring brandishing its broom – Wonderful!
