A lost rabbit in an acre of snow,
the torment wanders in circles, dreaming of warm,
thinking it home, knowing the death.
Unbounded, damp meadows embrace my soul
A song on the old Jacaranda limb
Muted since the day I vanished from sight
how deep this valley
of solitude, how loud
must I sing . . .
Perched on the edge of Winter
She is a changeling, a sprout, flight
She is a lingering touch of sky

the wild and precious beauty
of transient
love

She walks, following the curve of the road,
Footprints in the snow, winter-withered plants
And a low sky stubbornly grey.
‘winter-withered plants’ is such an evocative image.
