We nominate for awards, including Best of The Net. All submissions are considered for publication online and in our print mag.

Alternatively, we also have a New Submission Form for 100 Word Stories. With this in mind, submit only one story per month via the form. However, we encourage you to participate weekly on our blog in addition to one monthly submission.

On the first Wednesday of each month, we publish 2 selected 100 Word Stories (1 from submissions and 1 entry from the 100 Word Wednesday weekly prompts on the blog.)

Read other entries and comment on others. Lastly, this is a positive forum for feedback!

  1. RED : The Colour of LOVE.
“You’re still young…the most handsome guy around. Promise me, you’ll remarry.” She’s in pain. I stood statuesque before her bed, not knowing how to tell her how much I loved her. That there’d never be another Rimi.
“I want another favour. On Diwali, light a red candle for me.”
    “Why red?” I asked.
    “’cause it’s my fave colour.”

A decade has passed since Rimi’s death. I’ve lighted a red candle on every Diwali ever since.
As the flame flickers in the dark room this Diwali, Nisha presses herself against me from behind. Isn’t Red also the colour of love?

  2. Failsafe

I blew the birthday candle when Dave quipped:
“Shouldn’t we move to LEDs now? We could have colours, even blinking!”
I know Dave’s taking the piss but after the party, I reminded him:
    “Hey mate, about those LEDs–”
    “Sorry, I was being silly.”
“I know,” I laughed. “We could move to LEDs but a candle is a constant. It is a reminder that legacy systems don’t fail. Keeps us connected to the past. Electricity is 100-plus years old. The candle has been around for ages!”
    “Bravo!” He mocked.
“Okay Dave, I’ll be sure to light an LED on your grave!”

  3. “Sleep will come when you are dead,” the crimson candle boomed as it woke the man from his slumber on the night of October 8th, 2025.

Guiding the man through darkness, the searing stick demanded something new from the man to finish his novel every thirty nights.

“I demand your time,” it said in the first month of writing.

“I demand your patience,” it uttered on the second month of the project.

“I demand you ignore your family,” it asked on the third month.

Then, on the final night of the man’s killer first draft, it demanded his own blood.
