** Unknown Loyalty **
The King concluded his speech as he hoisted his crown into the air. “War is a fool’s game that requires a genius to win every time.” Every face steeled.
No one doubted that tolls would be great, sacrifices extensive. We were the front line after all. Twas our duty: maintain the chain.
The soldiers to my left and right remained focused upon their glory. A victory today could yield legend.
Across the open field stood an enemy I had seen before. A name spoken often, always victorious. A genius indeed.
At that moment, I made my choice. Defect or perish.
